Oliver Bettis is the Senior Pricing Actuary for Great Lakes Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Munich Re group, and is a fellow of the IFoA and the Chartered Insurance Institute. He is co-chair of the IFoA’s Economics Member Interest Group, which was set up to investigate diverse economic thinking to support actuaries in their professional work and the public interest. He is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP), and the Board of Trustees of Promoting Economic Pluralism.
From 2013-15 Oliver was the inaugural chair of the IFoA’s Resource and Environment Board (now the Sustainability Board). He has also chaired the International Actuarial Association’s working group on the environment and was a member of the IFoA’s Research and Thought Leadership Board. He has presented on climate change, limits to growth and pluralistic economics in numerous venues, for example: Chatham House, Imperial College, International Social Security Association, LSE Grantham Institute and many actuarial seminars and conferences.
